Are you new to drawing or painting and want to start your creative journey from a blank canvas, than we have the course for you.
During the course you will dicover the basic techniques and elements of drawing and painting with acrylic paints. Light/dark, composition, form and shape color and use of materials.
Different excercises will help you get out of your comfort zone to be able to paint and draw more freely. Examine what shapes you like, what color combinations and experiment.
Experiencing the joy of creating and painting is central to this course.

You choose when you start.
Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts offers four course blocks a year. All of our courses have a maximum of ten consecutive classes. You choose how many classes you want to attend per course block.
We are all busy people that sometimes want to go on holliday, have business duties or other engagements which sometimes makes it hard to attend all ten consecutive classes.
This is why you can choose the number of classes you take in a course. We offer a six, eight or ten classes package. At the beginning of each course you let the teacher know when you will attend the classes. This way you can be as flexible as you need to be.
And we also know when we will see you. Even with six lessons you will be able to start your creative journey. And if you want to go all in, with ten out of ten lessons you are also more than welcome.
SMALL

This option is perfect for busy people who travel a lot or just want an evening off now and then. Take six out of ten lessons and fit this creative course in your busy schedule.
MEDIUM
8 Classes
Price: € 340,-
This option is perfect for you when you know your busy schedule is prohibiting you from joining all ten classes So in stead of ten, sign up for our medium package and take eight classes.
LARGE

Ok you are all in. This option is perfect for you when you want to immerse yourself in this new creative endeavor. Nothing stands in your way to go all in. Sign up f0r ten out of ten classes.
Painting is the thread that weaves trough my life. I work many figuratively, with short detours to sillives, animals and landscapes. Color is an important element of all of my paintings.
I studied at Willem the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam and graduated 2007 at the Academy of visual arts in Amsterdam. I worked as a teacher in formal education and I host drawing and painting classes for adults. Sharing my enthousiasme for, and knowledge of the technical aspects of painting is what I love best.
I participated in the Open Atelier Nieuwmarkt.
BASIC PAINTING
Are you new to drawing and painting and want to start your creative journey, then you are more than welcome to join our basic painting course on Mondaymornings.
The painting course in the evening are open to all levels. We work in groups on our own project but connected by a shared theme. Every class we will start with a short introduction.
Classes end with a short round where we will discuss the work that has been made by the different students.
TIPS & TRICKS
During our courses new broadening your creative horizon is possible. We deepen your knowledge and understanding of the basics of painting and drawing.
Knowledge about color, composition, shape and other image elements will be discussed and experienced.
In the lessons we will work on the basis of themes. This can be a famous painter or a painting technique.
We will give an introduction with examples of the arthistory of a particular thema and give you excersises.
LEARN IN A GROUP
In this course we learn from each other. We discuss the works of fellow students and we will be looking at the progress every one makes.
There is a lot of space for individual expression. Even though the themes will be handed to you by the teacher, how you then translate these themes into your own drawings and paintings is up to you.
At the end of the course you get the chance to show your work in the exhibition.
